Faith Challenges from July 20

Here are the Faith Challenegs from Pastor Craig's Sundays Message:

FAITH CHALLENGE #1: RECONNECT WITH GOD’S WORD DAILY
“The days are coming... when I will send a famine... of hearing the words of the Lord.” (Amos 8:11)

Let’s not wait until we’re spiritually starving. Let’s commit to feeding our souls now.Challenge:
Spend at least 10 minutes a day this week reading Scripture—especially passages from the prophets or Psalms. Use a journal to write one verse that speaks to you and reflect on what God might be saying through it.

  • Start with Psalm 52, then try Amos 5, Micah 6, or Isaiah 58.
  • Ask: What do I hear? What is God challenging in me? Where is God calling me to act?
FAITH CHALLENGE #2: SPEAK AND LIVE TRUTH WITH INTEGRITY
“You love evil rather than good, falsehood rather than speaking the truth.” (Psalm 52:3)

In a world of spin and half-truths, disciples of Jesus are called to be truth-tellers—not just with our words, but with our lives.Challenge:
Practice one act of integrity each day this week—whether that’s owning a mistake, telling the truth even when it’s uncomfortable, or refusing to gossip or pass along misinformation.

  • Consider: Who needs to hear truth in love from me?
  • Where have I been silent when I should have spoken up—for justice, for compassion, for what is right?
FAITH CHALLENGE #3: LISTEN TO THE VOICES OF THE MARGINALIZED
“Hear this, you who trample the needy and do away with the poor of the land…” (Amos 8:4)

God’s judgment in Amos isn’t random—it’s rooted in how people treat the vulnerable. If we want to hear God’s voice, we must also listen to those who are too often ignored.Challenge:
Take time this week to learn from or listen to the stories of those on the margins—through a book, a podcast, a conversation, or a local outreach.

  • Ask: Whose voice is missing in my life? How can I open space to hear it?
  • Consider reaching out to a local ministry serving those in poverty or injustice and ask how you or your church might help.
FAITH CHALLENGE #4: CHOOSE WHERE YOU’RE ROOTED
“I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God.” (Psalm 52:8)

We all root our lives somewhere—in schedules, careers, finances, opinions. But what would it look like to re-root your life in God’s house? To let your values, time, and decisions be shaped by God’s Word?Challenge:
Name one area of your life this week—your time, your finances, your relationships—where you need to re-center on God. Then take a concrete step to do so.

  • Example: Add prayer to your commute. Start your day with gratitude instead of your phone. Review your budget with generosity in mind.
