Florida Conference churches show resiliency and resolve after multiple hurricanes

Like much of the state, multiple churches in The Florida Conference of The United Methodist Church took gut punches from hurricanes Debby, Helene, and Milton.

Many were already reeling from the first two storms when Milton roared ashore in the Tampa Bay area, bringing up to 18 inches of rain in some places and winds that topped 100 miles per hour. Approximately 40 churches throughout the Conference suffered varying degrees of damage.

However, as Bishop Tom Berlin and Conference leadership toured the latest damaged areas, they were encouraged by the resolve at churches in Milton’s path and by the response from laity throughout Florida.
