The county goes
GREEN today! I am hopeful that we will be able to sustain our progress against
the coronavirus in Pennsylvania. Of course, the virus hasn’t gone anywhere and
it remains important to be prudent, wear masks, and keep distance. It is a way
we love one another. While I myself am not in a high risk group, I live with my
mother-in-law and see other persons who are high risk. As we move toward
reopening, we have three processes going forward:
- Our council is working at implementation
plans that keep the current recommendations from the Bishop, the PA
Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control in mind. - Our technology team is working at testing
and implementing technology to make it possible to live-stream worship
from the sanctuary. - Our staff is imagining how to make
worship “fun” given the limitations imposed by the virus AND how to
provide a diverse menu of options to reach a congregation with a variety
of needs.
Furthermore, our
greatest opportunity in this season is to resource natural groups of friends,
relatives, and neighbors to do “church in my house.” The primitive church met
primarily in homes and that venue for discipleship and mission remains powerful
today. If you have a group of people with whom you gather safely, please let me
know!
